Education and Training :

Tarea earned a B.A in Psychology and M.S. in Counselor Education with a Community Counseling emphasis from Mississippi State University. She attended University of Tennessee earning a certificate in Deafness, and she completed the Executive Seminar through the National Rehabilitation Leadership Institute at San Diego State University.

Tarea has received training in various therapeutic modalities including Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Motivational Interviewing (MI) and play therapy. She uses a holistic integrated approach that considers the bio-psycho-social spiritual aspects of the person.

Who is Tarea Stout?

Tarea Stout has been married for 30+ years. She is a proud mom of two grown children, two dogs and a cat! She has faced many challenges in life, including having a hidden disability. She understands the daily challenges of life, family, and work. As a Christian, her favorite Bible verse, Romans 8:28 has encouraged her through the hard times in life, and cherished the good times.

Tarea became a counselor with the goal to help people. She has been bless to help thousands of people in her career. She has worked in the counseling field for over 30 years. She has a wide range of experience helping people with both physical and mental disabilities overcome challenges in life. She began her career working with youth and families in various capacities including crisis work, outpatient, and residential programs. For many years, she worked in Vocational Rehabilitation from counselor to state director. In recent years, she has dedicated herself to working with families and students in middle and high schools through Madison County School District as the Transition Coordinator.

Her passion and focus now is to walk deeper with the people she can help with counseling, assist organizations improve their programs to have a greater impact on the people they serve.
